a distinctive lack of subtlety is a small compilation EP, lasting only about 13 minutes front-to-back. The record comprises of 6 in-your-face tracks, spanning multiple genres, mostly scraps and otherwise unused tracks.
The EP opens with cowbeat, a down-low track with a distinct bassline and groovy drums. It then follows with arboreal jam, combining a large soundscape with intricate drum programming in 7/4 time. Next is the gritty 4,4-dimethylaetherane, featuring off-kilter beats over a driving bassline and a noisy, emotional synth. iteban moves in the direction of the dancefloor, featuing a steady four-on-the-floor beat with varied, syncopated percussion and a catchy melody. want some watts brings forth lo-fi samples and a heavy, steady beat, while istrevel is more subdued, with a soft kick pounding over jazz samples and delicate cymbals.
